Weeds

At the beginning of the 20th century, Emil Korsmo was appointed by the state to fight the spread of weeds. He published over 150 books and writings on the subject and led the work on a comprehensive work that featured 138 species spread over 90 plates.

The illustrations were made by three artists in close collaboration with Korsmo, and paradoxically, the pictures of the hated plants were very beautiful.

In “Ugress”, all Korsmo’s plates are collected and presented in the order in which they were originally drawn. For each plate, an updated description describes where the plants come from and where they grow today, about their cultural tradition and their use as both medicine and food.
